I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for setting up my charter on March 18th. Although the fishing wasn't really great we still did manage to land three sailfish and a mahi-mahi. The fishing was only part of what made this trip so nice. Four of the guys on the boat never really fished before and now they are hooked!!! The captain and crew were great and went above and beyond to make this trip enjoyable. The food and snacks were first class and the boat was nothing short of immaculate. I will be calling you in the near future to book our next fishing trip in Costa Rica. We can't wait to go back.
Sorry I've been slow getting back to you with an update. The trip was great. My buddy Alvin and I met Capt. The CAPTAIN & the crew and caught a boat load of fish! We hooked up on three sailfish and Alvin boated one. We also caught 30 Mahi Mahi that were all good size. We had a lot of doubles and at one point we had five fish on lines at the same time. See the two pictures attached. The Captain and co. lived up to your recommendation. The boat was spotless (and I know how much work that entails as I have a 370 Sea Ray), the food was fabulous, the crew was hustling all the time, and the captain hitting fish all day long. The condo was perfect for our needs; very nice, close to town, but far enough away to be quiet, and the management company was great and highly responsive. I really appreciate you putting together a turn-key package for us and I have penned you a note you can use on your site if you wish. I look forward to doing it again next year!
If a picture's worth 1,00 word, then there are 5,000 attached (or were in Joe's copy) which are only an introduction to a great fish tail...not to mention experience of a lifetime!!! Ditto on EVERYTHING Joe said - the crew took GREAT pride in everything, from the vessel, equipment, and their customers...it was clear that they really wanted to do everything in their book of tricks to get us trophy fish, a variery of game fish, and give attention to all of us. It was also obvious they knew their profession in a very large scale...we fished for a number of different fish, trolling and bottom fishing...they changed tackle/equipment fluently and took us to school doing it.On another note, I've been to a lot of places, and the Costa Ricans showed a love to us Americans which magnetizes us. We were constantly talking of them with the highest regard.
I am sorry to get this email to you so late but when I got back to California I was swamped with work. I really wanted to take my time with this email to tell you how greatly appreciative my group was with everything you did for us. The drivers were great drivers and were funny as hell. We were laughing our butts off. The whole attitude of the Costa Rican people made my brother John's 50th birthday very special. We had a very memorable week of fun in Costa Rica. The crew on the 42 footer, we cannot say enough about them. They were the best private charter crew I have ever been around. I have never seen a crew work so well together. The captain was very professional. The food and drink was exceptional. I have never in my life seen a crew clean the boat and equipment so meticulously, they were constantly working to keep everything clean and in order. All three of them always had a smile and a great attitude and you knew that they were doing everything possible to make things great. The first two days were a little slow but that's normal in fishing, that's why we went for 4 days. The last two days were non stop fishing for tuna, dorado, sailfish. It was awesome. We even took a grouper for dinner one night and it was excellent. The hotel cooked it for us.I really learned alot from the captain as well. I was keeping my drag too tight and had my line snapped by more than one big fish. I had always been on charter boats that always used tackle that was much heavier than needed and the fishing was easier. Using light tackle is the only way to go. Using finesse and patience will get you the fish and the most fun. I had always bullied fish to the boat and never really learned finesse because the tackle was so heavy. Now I know that taking an extra 15-20 minutes will give you the fight and the fun you came fishing for. I will now be a better fisherman because of the things I learned. I'll be in better shape with more patience. Yeah its fun but it is also work, you have to earn it and we really like that. James didn't have to say much, he knew that I knew I was pumping the drag to tight. I learned from this. From here on out I only want to use light tackle and get the full enjoyment of the fish fight. I will also leave the drag where they set it at.The surrounding area was beautiful and we were in awe of the landscape. We found a huge school of dolphins with many tuna and we had a blast catching them. I lost a really big tuna because of my drag being too tight and I was tired as hell !! That's OK because I'm coming back to catch that guy next year. Without a doubt I will come down to Costa Rica just to fish with the same crew. I will never go on a boat again that does not have air conditioning, it was necessary to have it. You really get spoiled with it. That was a real extra luxury to have the AC.I hope that the owner of the boat is aware of the professional crew he/she has taking care of things. The boat was always immaculate!! Everything you did for us worked out perfectly. The drivers were there on time and the boat was perfect. I would like to make sure that the captain and crew know how grateful we were to be on that boat with them. We took very good care of them as well and I know that they appreciated it. They gave us one of the best times of our lives. Send them a copy of this email. I also sent a copy of this email to my friend Dan who caught the big tuna and my brother John who the fishing party was in honor of. They will probably want to extend some thanks as well, so don't be surprised if you get an email from them as well. Also, the month of November seems to be pretty good for tuna and dorado which for us are alot of fun and they are also a challenge. I will probably like to make the trip next year a month or two earlier, which month do you suggest for tuna and dorado or just some great fishing period. I am ready to make next years plans fairly soon. I'll definitely let you know. Happy Holidays to all of you !!!Here are some pictures of us and the crew. If you ever need to use us as a reference to how professional your whole operation is then let us know. We would be glad to do so. OK, it's back to work for me but my mind is still on Costa Rica. Thanks Again and Pura Vida !!!
Wow what a first class adventure!!! I remember when we started thinking about an adventure of a life time to help John bring in his 50th and we started looking into Costa Rica . Joe and I had thought it would be good for both of us to talk to different outfitters, compare notes and then decide on whom to patronize for this special occasion. At first I was talking to anyone and everyone that responded to my emails. This quickly became very discouraging due to the high pressure tactics being used to close the sale at all cost. This is when Joe started talking to Jerry and was very pleased with the package being offered, the top notch boat and crew and NO PRESSURE was being applied to close the deal. The first day after arriving is Costa Rica we walked down to the Marina and took a look at the boat and right then and there we knew it was truly going to be a trip / adventure of a life time. We were so excited; all we could talk about the entire rest of the day was fishing. The first day out was awesome. I know the captain and the crew were very up set that it was a slow first day however; we were in heaven. No cell phones, no computers, no dead lines, we were on the best boat ever, and had a very professional Captain and Crew taking care of us. We ate like kings the whole time; from snacks in the morning, to lunch, to drinks, it was all covered, we had everything we needed and then some!! Watching the captain work the boat, giving instructions to the Crew, and the Crew anticipating the instructions was like watching a highly skilled Surgeon and his team working together in an operating room. The professionalism from all three; was incredible, Nordstrom’s should publish this as the “How to Treat your Guest” chapter in their “Customer Service Manuel” !! It only got better and more exciting from there on out!! Thank you for providing John with a special birthday, all of us with a once in a life time adventure, me a 60 lb Yellow Fin Tuna and memories of the best fishing trip I have ever experienced!! I truly want to and dream of returning for another day of fishing with James, crew and my best friends!!Thanks again for all of the hospitality and making our trip special!!!
