March 24th, 2009 - A few big sailfish days

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I apologize for the lack of fishing reports the past week but I had to return to the states for a family thing.

There were a few huge sailfish days out of the Los Suenos marina this past week.  There were 2 or 3 days were a lot of boats were catching big numbers of sailfish.

Captain Dana released 20 sails in one day.

Captain James released 60 sails in 3 days of fishing.

I will be back in CR tomorrow and will get some fresh fish reports.

Los Suenos fishing picks up

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

The past couple days of fishing have been good out of the Los Suenos marina.  Some boats have run way offshore to try their luck at marlin and are getting a shot at 3-7 striped marlin per day.  Other boats have been fishing at the corner and catching good numbers of sailfish, a few mahi mahi and maybe a marlin or 2.

Captain RJ took the Ahner group out today and caught 9 sailfish and 2 big mahi mahi…yesterday the same guys caught 4 sailfish and a striped marlin.

Captain Dave ran out to the marlin bite with some clients and raised 7 marlin in 2 days of fishing…they released 3 and the others broke off.

Captain Bill fished the corner and caught 5 sailfish and a blue marlin.

Captain Jorge fished with the same guys for 3 days and caught a few marlin, more than a dozensailfish and a handful of mahi mahi.

The Los Suenos marina was very busy the past few days with the tournament but while some boats fished for thousands of dollars in prizes other guys were doing the 9 to 5 on the charter dock taking clients out everyday.

Captain RJ caught 7 sailfish and 2 nice mahi mahi at the corner the day before yesterday.

Captain Dave fished the same area as RJ and caught 7 sailfish.

Captain Jorge caught 2 marlin and a sailfish on Friday and 4 sailfish and a mahi mahi yesterday.

The photo above is a nice marlin caaught by Joe fishing with Captain Chris in Quepos.  Please remember all fish photos should be taken like this one…it is the law.
