April 9, 2009 – average bite out of Los Suenos

Sorry for the lack of fishing reports this week but I have been in the states visiting my family.

The fishing in Costa Rica the past week has been about average for this time of year.  Most of the boats going offshore are reporting some green water in all our hot spots but they are still catching a handful of sailfish and mahi mahi.  There hasn’t been many marlin caught but they are still around.   The bottom fishing has been steady 5-15 miles out with good numbers of grouper and snapper being caught.

Captain James took a bachelor party offshore and caught a few sailfish and a 400 plus pound marlin.  The best man caught the big one and everyone was happy.  The photo above is a nice grouper Captain James caught recently doing some bottom fishing not far from the Los Suenos marina.

Captain Brandon took a couple guys and their kids out for some bottom fishing and caught 15-20 grouper and snapper 5 – 15 miles offshore.
