January 8, 2009 – sailfish bite moves in

The sailfish seem to be moving in closer and most of the boats did pretty well today.  I talked to several guys and they all were getting 5 to 8 sailfish releases as well as a few mahi mahi…the good bite was less than 20 miles out.

The guys on the 35′ bertram caught 6 sailfish and a mahi mahi on a half day trip.

A couple guys from Louisiana went out on the 28′ Carolina Classic today and the went 7 for 8 on sailfish and caught a nic mahi mahi as well.

The photo above is from a group that fished in Quepos last week…they all caught their first sailfish.

Time for a few cold beers and the Texas/Alabama game.
