January 10, 2009 – the winds blow

The northern winds blew hard today and made it rough going for anyone going offshore today.  The Papagayo winds are common this time of year up in the northern Pacific but it is very rare when they are blowing so hard that it kicks up on the central Pacific.  The guys I talked to up north have had to postpone trips for a couple days.

Everyone I talked to still caught fish today despite the weather.   Most guys averaged 3 or 4 sails and I heard one boat caught 6 or 7.   One guy I talked to went half day inshore and they caught a roosterfish, a jack and a half dozen smaller fish.
