February 2, 2010 – sailfish bite Los Suenos

The sailfish bite has been heating up the past few days and everyone I talk to expects it to get even better as we get further away from the full moon. The bite seemed to be all over with guys catching fish to the west and to the south.

A 43′ Custom has been the hot boat the past couple days…they released 15 sailfish today and 14 yesterday.  They were fishing less than 30 miles out.

I talked to a couple of the 42′ Mavericks captains and they have been averaging double digit sailfish releases everyday…35 miles plus offshore.

One of my buddies on a 53′ custom released 9 sailfish today…they were 35 miles out by the craters.

The guys on the 36′ Topaz had a slow day inshore today but had been catching 5 or 6 sailfish, some mahi and some nice yellowfina tuna the days prior.

I hope this bite holds up…I have friends coming in town and I’m going to be fishing for the next few weeks and a hot bite would be great.
