September 10, 2010 – some marlin around, tarpon bite hot

The main talk around the marina Los Suenos the past couple days has been about some marlin being caught.  Mid September is a low tourism time so there are not many people fishing.  The boats that have gone out have been catching a mix…there are still some tuna around and some sailfish and a couple boats raised and released some small blue marlin.

The 28′ center console fished a couple half day down at the 26 rock south of Jaco and they did good on wahoo to 30 pounds, small yellowfin tuna and some amber jack.

The tarpon bite has been really good on the Caribbean side.  Not many anglers over there either but the ones that have been fishing are getting more than a dozen hook ups per day.  One lodge had a couple from Florida fish 2 days and they had 44 tarpon hook ups.  The tarpon bite should be good as long as the weather holds and the weather should hold until the end of October.
