There have been some recent changes in the laws governing the fishing industry in Costa Rica.  This is good news for the future of Costa Rica sport fishing.

The commercial fishing industry can longer export sailfish meat, boats are allowed only a 15% sailfish by catch, boats cannot sell anything over 15%… it must be donated to local hospitals and schools and boats can no longer use live bait on long lines.

The sportfishing industry  has also been ask to make a change.  Please copy and paste the link below to read my fishing column at the Tico Times Newspaper website.  We appreciate your help in preserving the future of sport fishing.
